ChilliBOM

An out of control Tabasco obsession led to the creation of ChilliBOM, Australia’s only mail-order hot sauce club – and the answer to many difficult Christmas gift questions.

In the words of the chilli-fanatic and ChilliBOM founder, Rodney Sammut “It started with a simple Tabasco obsession, then it got a little weird". It’s become so obsessive, that Rodney has quit his job to run ChilliBOM and fire up Aussie palates by sourcing the sauce.

The timing is perfect, Aussies can turn their taste buds up to 10 over the summer and enjoy chilli sauces on the BBQ or they have a special gift for that hard to buy for bloke.

Rodney says, ‘it’s not just about the 'blow your mind' heat. To ensure taste buds are on 10, it’s about flavour and variety, with heat as a bonus.”

“I look for premium sauces made from real chillies – I want authenticity so you won’t find any chilli extract in our sauces! Ensuring the chilli flavour complements food and doesn’t smother it is important too.”

Rodney puts his taste buds on the line and tests fiery sauces from across Australia and the globe, selecting three awesome bottles every quarter for the ChilliBOM Red Box delivery.

ChilliBOM has just released its Summer Red Box with three contrasting saucy treats; African Rhino Peri Peri Hot Sauce from Birmingham, Alabama USA, Fenglehorn Habanero Sweet Chilli Sauce from Cairns and Bear Brewing Reaper Sauce from Sydney.

African Rhino Peri Peri Hot Sauce

Chilli: Peri Peri

This medium heat sauce opens with a fragrant and full aroma thanks to roasted tomatoes and garlic. These ingredients shine through on the palate, blending beautifully with the peri-peri chillies, lemon juice and cider vinegar. This all adds up to a rich, smooth sauce with a gentle, lingering, even heat.

Fenglehorn Habanero Sweet Chilli Sauce

Chilli: Habanero

From a base of the hot habanero chilli, this sauce manages to attain sweetness without being OTT sweet. The balance is possible thanks to the inclusion of ginger and fish sauce, which provide flavour dimension. You can’t miss the heat, it hits the moment the sweetness disappears and lingers for a couple of minutes as quality habanero should. If you dare…chew on the chilli seeds…don’t say you weren’t warned!

Bear Brewing Reaper Sauce

Chilli: Carolina Reaper, Ghost Chilli, Cayenne Pepper, Black Pepper

This Australian-made beauty is unique. Its fermented AND it's black. Yep, the sauce is black thanks to activated charcoal. This thick, black beauty makes your mouth water as soon as you begin to pour. Without a doubt, capsicum and the chilli are the heroes here and they co-exist happily with mustard and lime. Fermentation delivers a different flavour profile, almost a rawness. The heat builds at the back of the throat with a long lingering burn thanks to the Carolina Reaper.

Being part of the ChilliBOM hot sauce club is simple. Those looking for a little spice in their life visit www.chillibom.com.au and sign up for a ChilliBOM red delivery box to arrive every three or six months. Or those looking to tweak their taste buds can also buy individual sauces from ChilliBOM’s ever-changing international selection.
