Oman's fragrance distilled

Enfleurage Middle East LLC Frankincense Distillery, a subsidiary company of Enfleurage New York, is located north of Yemen and south of Dubai in The Sultanate of Oman on the Arabian Peninsula.

Here, in Dhofar, in Southern Oman, visitors find one of the only places in the world where aromatic Sacred Frankincense trees, Boswellia sacra, live and thrive in the wild. Since 2011, the company has been hydro-distilling fresh frankincense there.

The distillation process is slow and seasonal. Using traditional copper alembics and low temperatures, the essential oil is coaxed and persuaded out of the resin (above), resulting in a magnificent, complex and delicate, yet powerful essential oil.

Throughout most of the year, when possible the distillation uses "white" or "silver" howjary resin and black frankincense from the areas west of Salalah, from Mughsayl on in the direction of Yemen and the Mountains of the Moon. The black frankincense has a relatively short season, and is harder to come by.

The company distills any and all local Omani frankincense resin, preferring to distill what is fresh and in season.

These precious resins yield Frankincense Essential oil, guaranteed 100% pure and natural and free from all additives.

Because of environmental changes, these oils may vary slightly between batches, as all frankincense is wild crafted by hand in the mountains and valleys of Dhofar, Oman.â€¨

But that's not all! This company is the inventor of Frankincense Ice Cream and had been making it in the Salalah distillery since 2011. â€¨

Although the specialty is Frankincense, a tiny amount of Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha) from Somaliland, Mahra or Hadramawt, Yemen is also distilled.
