We've all heard of people seeing pink elephants, but this sparkling wine will have you rubbing your eyes with surprise. Blanc de Bleu, is not white or golden or even pale pink like most sparkling wines. This Californian chardonnay from Mendocino County has an added hint of blueberries which turns the wine a glacial blue. The delicate sparkling wine offers fresh aromatic effervescence in an impressive shapely bottle . The fruit for Blanc de Bleu is grown in the quiet vineyards of Northern California, known for its cool and clear breezes - ideal conditions for the exclusive grapes and soils that accentuate the profoundly flavourful characteristics.
Blanc de Bleu grapes are picked at lower sugar levels to ensure that the wine has lower alcohol content. The fruit is pressed into stainless steel tanks for primary fermentation, and then has a secondary fermentation using the Charmat method. Adding a small amount of blueberry extract offers the gentle perfume and additional delicate flavours. |
