Beat the Q

Beat the Q, the free app allowing users to order and pay for coffee en-route to their regular cafe, is boosting energy levels and productivity, saving Australian workers over 2.5 million minutes of tedious waiting time.

Already it has served up over half a million coffees to busy Aussies looking to skip long and frustrating queues by ordering ahead."Research shows that the average person spends about three years of their life just waiting in line. Using their smartphones or computers, Beat the Q customers can select their favourite cafe and place an order from a customised menu with a credit card or PayPal account, all in under ten seconds."

The success of the app has seen it expand to include food orders as well, so users can now have their breakfast bagel toasted and ready on arrival along with their morning cappuccino. Entire offices can also place one collective order and still pay individually, making it even easier to send the new intern out on the afternoon coffee run!

Participating cafes pay a small monthly fee for the service, which not only helps them run more smoothly, but also greatly increases customer loyalty.??

Beat the Q founder and CEO Adam Theobald said Australians today are hardworking and busier than ever as we constantly try to pack more into our days. 'Whether you're running late, low on cash, or just too tied up with work to waste time queuing, Beat the Q takes the hassle out of the whole process. In a single year it can save someone with a two-coffee-a-day habit almost a complete work week."

Flat whites still in front

New Zealanders may claim they invented it, but data gathered by Beat the Q has revealed the humble Aussie flat white is the drink of choice for coffee lovers nationwide, outselling the trendier and more elaborate coffee styles.

Data collected from hundreds of cafes around Australia over two years revealed out of 425,000 orders processed through Beat the Q's system, 30 percent have been for a flat white compared to just 3 percent for a piccolo, 1.4% for a chai latte and 1.1% for a macchiato.

Beat the Q is an app enabling consumers to order ahead and pay for their coffee and food, so it's ready for them when they arrive at a cafe.

Entrepreneur and Beat the Q founder Adam Theobald said the findings, although intriguing, were not surprising.

"We are fortunate here in Australia to have such an abundance of great cafes serving up fantastic coffee," he says. "The flat white is as popular today as it ever was, in part due to its Australian origins. We're a parochial bunch and the flat white is very much a part of our Australian culture. A flat white is as Aussie as a packet of Tim Tams."
