Porridge is a centuries-old tradition as being a breakfast that gets you going and well-prepared for the day. Traditionally made it can take a long time of stirring to get it right, though. And then, not everyone can tolerate oats. Others are looking for additional nutition in the one bowl. Macadamia producers, Brookfarm, from the Byron Bay hinterland in the far north of NSW, knew all this and have made a range of wonderful foods using their own macadamias teamed with other healthy ingredients that more than meet the brief of busy modern people looking for the ideal breakfast in a bowl. Look for Brookfarm's gluten-free, microwaveable 'porrij' (packed with organic brown rice, organic millet, almonds, organic quinoa, organic amaranth, organic golden flaxseed, macadamias, and cinnamon) or its sibling Power Porrij which has oats augmented with wonderful extras such as barley, rye, almonds, organic quinoa, organic amaranth, organic golden flaxseed, rice bran, macadamias, cinnamon, and prune juice. Worth trying, and definitely worth checking out all the other goodies this lovely producer has come up with. |
