| Try a turmeric latte |

Yes, it's a latte, but no, it doesn't look like any latte you have drunk. This one was served at Concrete Jungle, a hip and happening cafe in inner-city Kensington Street, Sydney, and to get one like it you need to ask for a turmeric latte. What's with the colour? And why turmeric? In Ayurvedic medicine in India, turmeric has long been used as an attempted treatment for a variety of internal disorders, such as indigestion, throat infections, common colds, or liver ailments, as well as topically, to cleanse wounds or treat skin sores. Western nutritionists also now believe that turmeric, the spice that turns curries and other Asian dishes a lovely golden colour, can be beneficial in many ways. While it is not proven, some believe that the cucurmin contained in turmeric may help some conditions, including cancer. Which explains the many dishes and drinks featuring turmeric - and now, it seems, even lattes. While I didn't ask the cafe for its recipe, here is one you could try....
