There's a kerfuffle over Baroque's black truffle cheeseburger. Following widespread acclaim over what was possibly Sydney's most decadent Croque Monsieur, the kitchen team at Baroque Pantry have launched a new menu item sure to rival Sydney's best - The Baroque Truffled Cheeseburger. Inspired by Sydney's seemingly insatiable appetite for the humble burger, Head Chef Drew Bolton has taken a simple Aussie tradition and transformed it in a typically decadent (French) fashion. The Baroque Truffled Cheeseburger (available on the Baroque Pantry lunch menu) incorporates a house grind of three types of Cape Grim Angus Beef (shin, short-rib and brisket), Swiss gruyere, house pickles, house ketchup and, of course, black truffle on a handmade brioche bun baked daily in Baroque's pastry kitchen. The burger has already made its mark, selling out in the first few days of its debut on the menu, and even grabbing the attention of London Mayor Boris Johnson, who ordered burgers all round when dining in Sydney recently.?Chef Drew Bolton said he's been blown away by customers' response to the burger. Baroque's new Pantry menu has been inspired by the essence of spring, and will grace customers' tables from September. ?Featuring dishes such as lamb shanks with crushed kipfler potatoes & ratatouille, crispy pork belly with brussel sprouts & apple puree, and a delectable confit chicken salad with witlof, Israeli couscous, blue cheese & walnuts, the new menu is a testament to affordable dining in The Rocks. Baroque Pantry serves up breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea seven days a week. The restaurant reverts back to the more traditional Baroque Bistro menu in the evenings (Tues-Sat from 6pm). Baroque and La Renaissance Café Patisserie are owned by the Charkos Family. La Renaissance Patisserie is Sydney's oldest continuously owned and operated French Patisserie founded in 1974 by the late Pierre Charkos. |
