| Throw a 'leftovers party' |

Informal parties are a great way to use up small amounts of Christmas ham, turkey, cheeses and other perfectly good foods that otherwise would go to waste. It is so easy to plan too. Think of what you want to offer in categories. Make one or two of each, allowing 2-3 per person.
Nibbles: - serve in small bowls · Nuts/Olives/roasted chickpeas/cheese cubes · Crudités - carrot, cucumber or celery sticks, cherry tomatoes etc · Stuffed – figs/dates/chillies/cherry tomatoes
Breads: - serve in a basket or tray with a dip in centre · Crackers /corn chips/crisps/pita /Afghan bread · Pumpernickel squares · Bread sticks/pretzels · Mini scones/pikelets/blini/corn cakes
Dips: · Hummus/pesto/garlic paste/salmon & caviar/labna, sour cream · Brie baked in bread (f you only have small pieces
Cold savoury: (one sort of each for every four people) · cucumber slices topped with tomato/pumpernickel & salmon/melon & prosciutto · salmon slices rolled around cream cheese/dolmades/ · skewered (use tiny bamboo ones) - squares of salmon, cheese
Cooked savoury: (one sort of each for every four people)
· Small fried balls/patties/frittata · Pastry – filled tiny rolls/tiropites/filled wonton baskets/tarts/choux balls/ · Skewered (use tiny bamboo ones) squares of a filled pastry slice/frittata or quiche
Sweet: · Fruit tarts/pastries · Chocolates/cake/biscuits
Fruit & cheese platter · 3 cheeses (hard, soft, blue) and fruit such as pear, apple, dates · quince paste & other fruit pastes/crackers/pumpernickel/lavosh etc |
