Rome2rio

Rome2rio, based in Melbourne, Australia, has taken on the huge task of organising the world's transport information - all in one place.

It offers a multi-modal, door-to-door travel search-engine that returns itineraries
for air, train, coach, ferry, mass transit and driving options to and from any location.

Users of Rome2rio don't need to search multiple websites to research and compare their travel options. Rome2rio provides answers to questions like:

'I'm going to Martha's Vineyard: how do I get there from London?'

Rome2rio's platform is built to search
, utilising a vast, purpose-built, worldwide repository of air, rail, coach, ferry and mass transit routes.
Thousands of transport operators are represented in its database,
making it the largest online repository of surface transport routes anywhere online, making its

platform is capable of flexible journey planning,
long-distance (inter-city) trip planning as well as local (intra-city) journey planning.

Browse their coverage in Europe, North America, South America and Asia Pacific, plus Airlines. The repository is constantly expanding as it adds new data from a variety of sources. To keep up to date with new coverage, like rome2rio on facebook, follow rome2rio on twitter, or check out the blog. The platform is available for integration into web and mobile applications via API and White Label solutions.

Rome2rio gathers its information from an array of sources. Its flight information comes from more than 600 airlines and is provided by OAG, a data company; driving and walking information is from OpenStreetMap, an open-source, global map; bus information is from more than 2,500 operators. The site also has information on more than 300 trains and 400 ferry operators worldwide, and on mass transit systems in select destinations. It provides hotel information from Booking.com, and links users directly to travel companies for online booking.

It also assesses the carbon footprint of an itinerary.

Rome2rio has global ambitions and offers information in eight languages and rates in 24 currencies, but although its data is most extensive in Europe, the United States and Australia, it is upgrading its said to be Asian, African and Latin American listings.

The service is free to use as money comes from commissions earned on referrals to travel suppliers and from licensing fees charged to business-to-business customers.
