| Packing a Winner |

I have packed for hundreds of trips and since I learned this method, I haven't packed any other way. Lay out all the clothes you plan to wear, flat on the bed, one garment on top of another, just as if you were wearing them - except for slacks or pants, which are best laid side-on. Put your shoes in plastic bags, makeup/toiletries in ziplock bags and place in the middle of the pile. Fold the arms in over the bundle, then simply roll it all up. It should fit neatly in your bag or suitcase. Each garment cushions the one on either side of it, so you should have almost no wrinkles or creases when you unpack. It is such a firm pack that you can safely pack a bottle of wine in the middle and send the suitcase home in the hold. If it should burst open, a swag of clothes is not as likely as individual items to drop out. When you reach your destination, simply take out the whole bundle of clothes and unroll. You can even drape the pile of clothes over a chair for a short stay if you don't want to hang everything up. |
