Australia's historic city of Parramatta comes alive with one of the world's unique international arts festivals. Parramasala, from October 30-November 6, is a festival where the diverse program includes artists from all parts of the globe who have one thing in common. Each is inspired by rich artistic traditions and cultures that originate in South Asia. From the very contemporary to the sublimely classical, the performances, screenings, concerts and showings will offer experiences that embrace, entertain and inspire. Many are free. Use the festival planner on the website to create your own schedule and make a day of it. Catch a lunchtime documentary, an exhibition at the Artists' Studios, concerts on the outdoor stage and then one of the major festival attractions in the evening. All within easy walking distance. Enjoy the amazing variety of food available at the Masala Market and Festival Lounge or one of the city's outstanding restaurant precincts in Church Street or nearby Harris Park.
