Rent a Finn and learn to cook

When many people think of Finland, they mention lakes, and history - and the cold.

I think of people snacking on punnets of strawberries as they walk down the street. Little wonder, as Finnish strawberries are about the sweetest and juiciest ones you will find anywhere.

Little wonder, either, that Finland was chosen by the United Nations as the world’s happiest nation for the third year running, in March, 2020. Visit Finland, the Finnish travel promotion organization, is launching the Rent a Finn goes Virtual campaign to showcase the Finnish way of life and share the joy.

Rent a Finn goes Virtual is a fascinating new social media initiative which lets people in on the Finns’ natural way of life and daily routines for feeling happier, while around the world people are staying at home and dreaming about their next trip.

Better still, anyone can now book an individual meeting with a Finnish Happiness Guide!

The series focuses on five different areas of Finnish lifestyle, showcasing different aspects Finnish happiness in live-stream sessions called:

Eat with a Finn

Relax with a Finn

Be Active with a Finn

Spend Time with a Finn

Be Happy with a Finn

Each Virtual Happiness Guide, who is specialized in the topic through their daily work and life, will introduce their topic. Viewers are encouraged to take part in the experience by preparing for the upcoming live-stream.

As the focus here is on food, it is only right that you should meet Michelin Star chef Sasu Laukkonen.

Eat with a Finn...

Sasu Laukkonen is a Michelin Star chef with his own restaurant in Helsinki. Sasu has a strong love for Finnish nature and all of its gifts: wild herbs, local root vegetables, the authentic flavours of Finnish produce. His way of cooking is quite interesting by traditional standards. This man can make ice cream out of pine bark – not likely something you’ve seen before!

Happiness skills: Collecting wild herbs in urban environments and cooking with them.

How to prepare yourself for the live session: Prepare yourself by getting a pair of rubber boots and some kitchen accessories.

Would you like an effective workout with a Finn, or perhaps talk with a Finn about how you can feel happier in your life?

Selected Virtual Happiness Guides will be available for individual 15-minute meetings via Teams, Hangouts or Skype in the week of 22 June.

Apply to book your preferred topic and Virtual Happiness Guide on the campaign site HERE...

Applications are open until 7 June at 23.59 (GTM+3).
