Maggie Beer's video series |
For decades, Maggie Beer, has been known for her love of cooking and sharing her recipes with others. So much so, that in 1998 she was named a National Living Treasure by the National Trust of Australia. Now, with, many people not able to travel to take a cookery class with her in her home-state of South Australia, Maggie is coming to all of us, joining other online chefs with her new video series Cooking with Maggie. Her daily video tutorials are viewer-based and the topic for her video each day may be prompted from someone's posted query: such as how to poach an egg, what to do with vincotto or verjuice, or freekah!...and much more. Ask all you like, and she will demystify it for you. Maggie has her own ideas that she will also share, leaning towards homespun recipes and pantry items we all might have on hand - or substitutes, if the cupboard (or supermarket shelves) don't have something you have relied on for a favourite dish.
Maggie Beer is the queen of self-sufficiency as her Barossa Valley farm shop shows, and she also raises lamb and poultry and grows her own vegetables. What's more, Maggie plans to stay with us all online while the virus is around and we are isolated and needing her help. Cooking with Maggie is now live on Instagram and Facebook. |
