Korean cuisine skills

Join award-winning chef and author Chung Jae Lee as he takes you on an amazing culinary journey through his homeland, South Korea.  Shop at local markets, enjoy an overnight templestay program at Magoksa Temple and be pampered in a Korean bathhouse.  Enjoy a Master Class in Korean cuisine, visit Boseong, the home of Korea’s traditional green tea plantations and see the best of the country’s sights and attractions.

The 13-day Phil Hoffmann Travel fully escorted tour will be led by well known Adelaide chef Chung Jae Lee and will allow tour participants to be fully immersed in Korean food, history and culture as well as enjoying many of the fun experiences that can be enjoyed in Korea.

The first three days are spent in Seoul enjoying the sights of the capital with an afternoon of learning how to make two of Korea’s most iconic dishes Bulgogi and Kimchi at the Ongo Cooking School.  Visits to the local markets are included as well as a full day tour of the DMZ – the demilitarized zone between South and North Korea.

The city of Jeonju is known as the ‘food capital’ of Korea and here you can try the best bibimbap in the country.  Bibimbap is a mixed rice/vegetable dish with spicy red pepper paste which is served with many side dishes including the famous Korean kimchi (fermented cabbage pickle).

The tour also takes in Gwangju, Damyang, the home of bamboo cultivation and craftsmanship as well as the famous Boseong tea plantations.  A visit to the massive Jagalchi fish market in Busan will open your eyes to a vast array of seafood you’ve never seen in your life.
