Gårdsjö Moose Park in Sweden want you to sleep overnight in their exclusive cottage in the middle of Sweden's only moose reserve.
Here you can interact with these majestic kings of the forest. It's silent, cosy, semi-wild and you'll have rich experience of Swedish nature. All this with the Moose moving around right outside. This whole thing started a long time ago when owner, Leffe, who was then still a hunter, got asked to take care of a moose calf that had lost its mother in a traffic accident. He took the calf in and cared for it, but unfortunately it died after about a week, despite all the loving care. But for Leffe, the dream was born then, to start a Moose Park. It took many years and a new woman in his life before Leffe and Ilona could open Gårdsjö Moose Park in 2007, with Gunde and Göta, both born in 2006, as the first inhabitants in the fenced area of 16 hectares.
If you want to, you can get really close to the moose. They are used to visitors arriving on the wagons and enjoy coming up to inspect the guests. Sometimes they even come close enough for you to touch. They are huge, mighty animals and it’s a very special experience to be near them.
Arrive early for the Moose Tour and Moose safari. From there you continue to the wagons and leave as a group for the one-hour tour with the Moose Man himself? |
