 The Penang World Music Festival features an amazing lineup of international acts from Spain, Germany, South Africa, India and more, all performing against the spectacular backdrop of historical Georgetown, Penang’s own UNESCO Heritage City. And when you have heard your fill of musical performances, take time to experience some of the tantalizing and delicious local cuisine for which Penang is justifiably famous. Labuan National Water Festival The Labuan National Water Festival is the perfect event for the lovers of all things Aquatic! Visitors can enjoy, relax, eat, play and compete in numerous water-themes activities including fishing, round-island kayaking and cross-channel swimming. Take part in beach tug-of-war, test your agility by climbing a slippery pole or take out the competition in a pillow fight – guaranteed fun no matter what your age. Visitors can also join in the Labuan International Sea Challenge, which forms part of the annual Malaysia Water Festival, one of the biggest and popular water sports events in the country. Wings of Kuala Kubu Bharu Selangor Bird Race The fourth Wings of Kuala Kubu Bharu event is a great opportunity for bird watchers to come together, enjoy nature and expand their knowledge of some of Malaysia’s many different species of birds and their habitats. Participants travel through 10 different checkpoints, setting out from the charming town of Kuala Kubu Baru, past the Kalumpung Hot Springs and ending up at the Genting Highlands Awana Resort. The area sits within Malaysia’s designated Important Bird Area and is home to rare species including the Marbled Wren Babbler, the Pygmy Wren Babbler, the Large Niltava, Silver-Breasted Broadbills and intriguingly named Rhinoceros, Great and Bushy Crested Hornbills. Regatta Lepa Fiesta The Regatta Lepa traditional boat race occurs annually in April and it is a vibrant and spectacular festival that pays homage to the lepa, the traditional single-mast sailing boat of the Bajau people of Semporna, Sabah. Witness a fleet of colourful lepas decorating the coast of Semporna during the annual Regatta Lepa event. Kaul Mukah Festival Come and immerse yourself in the lifestyle of the indigenous Melanau community living along the coastal area of Sarawak, and help celebrate one of their highly cherished traditional festivals. The Kaul Mukah is celebrated as a religious ceremony to appease spirits of the sea, land, forest and farm, making it the most important festival in the Melanau traditional calendar. The festival site is on the banks of the Mukah river estuary where visitors can relax, soak up Melanau culture and participate in activities and traditional games – a major highlight is the giant traditional swing called Tibow, as well sample their unique delicacies.
