Tea in a teapot |
Or you could eat in a teapot!
This one is now found in the Haute-Pyrenees region of France, but it has been transported from Scotland. It was originally constructed by a local Scottish Borders artist, Ian Hunter, who made it as a means to keep dry the wood which he used for making sculptures. Mr Hunter had made the original wood store and over time decided that it would look better with a spout and handle - and so the teapot was born !
Tina Sharpe, the current owner, had it dismantled, carefully numbered and photographed before having it transported to the village of Castelnau Magnoac in south-west France. The idea of opening an English vintage Tea Room in France in 2015 was inspired by her love of all things traditional: beautiful china, homemade cakes and luxurious clotted cream.
French people love a little quirkiness with their tea too, and this 30-seater, two-level tearoom has become popular with locals and tourists alike. But it doesn't end here. Now Ms Sharpe has plans to create the world's biggest tea-cosy to help raise funds for charity, so now knitting needles are clacking along as people enjoy their cream teas.
