Katz's world-famous deli |
Jake Dell, owner of world renowned Katz’s Deli in New York City, made famous by the notorious, “I’ll have what she’s having” scene in When Harry Met Sally, and its mouth-watering Pastrami on Rye (consistently rated on “Best Sandwich” lists globally)is headed to Australia 18 – 20 March to help launch the search for ‘Australia’s Best Ryvita Sandwich.’
Jake will kick-off the competition by bringing over his own acclaimed New York City Pastrami on Rye, and world famous Reuben, both of which bring celebrities (Bill Clinton, Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand) and civilians alike from all over the world into Katz’s Deli. Ryvita’s “Topped to Perfection” competition will see Australia’s top eateries battle it out to win the title, by creating their own tasty Ryvita creation. The public will then be encouraged to vote for their favourite restaurant’s recipe. Katz's serves 30,000 people each week, all hankering to taste Pastrami on Rye and Reuben sandwiches. Everything sold in Katz’s Deli is made from scratch, from the pastrami to the sauerkraut.
Australians are already heading into the select eateries across the land to taste each Ryvita creation, then logging onto Facebook to vote and can also visit the Facebook page for inspirational recipes of their own. Eateries involved in this competition include The Grounds (Sydney), Malibu (Sydney), Hotel Windsor (Melbourne), Shady Palms Café (Brisbane), Bar 9 (Adelaide), Café Elixir (Perth), Toastface Grillah (Perth).
