Eating on ice |
Be sure to wrap up as warmly before visiting these unique restaurants in Finland because two of them are made completely of snow and ice! The Lapland Hotel’s SnowVillage features three restaurants. The Snow Restaurant and The Ice Bar (above) offers blankets so their clientele will stay warm in the candlelit bar, which serves Nordic-themed cocktails and hot chocolate. The village's Log Restaurant has a cosy fireplace and the same menu as the Snow Restaurant but is open all year and is a bit warmer. The Snow Restaurant serves classic Finnish cuisine including salmon soup and reindeer fillet and reopened in December 2019. The Ice Bar Nearly 200 km above the Arctic Circle lies a unique and magical world made from ice and snow. Each year, around 20 million kilos of snow and 350 000 kilos of crystal clear natural ice are used to build the spectacular Lapland Hotels SnowVillage which changes in shape, size and design to amaze visitors year after year. The SnowVillage includes, for instance, ice sculptures, decorated snow suites, an ice restaurant and an ice bar, as well as an ice chapel. On the Western part of Finnish Lapland, in close proximity of Ylläs and Levi ski-resorts, the village is easily reachable from the airport of Kittilä Tastes of pure Lapland are presented in the surrounding, which is totally unique and different from anything you've experienced before. If the icy surroundings feel a little chilly, while seated in the restaurant, you will be provided with extra warm clothes so you may fully enjoy the Northern experience.
