Gateway Circular Quay |
They say with restaurants that their success is primarily about location, location, LOCATION! If that's the case, then the dining establishments in Gateway Circular Quay are perfectly placed. Across the road from Circular Quay and its ferries and cruise ships, on the edge of the main shopping CBD, just minutes from the Royal Botanic Gardens in one direction and three railway stations in easy reach, this has to be the ideal location.
While Gateway has been here for some years, recent significant refurbishment and a new management direction was the reason that an official launch was planned in late-February, 2017. The Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore, officially launched DEXUS Property Group’s (DEXUS) recent retail development, Gateway Sydney, shown here (above) with DEXUS CEO, Darren Steinberg. In her speech she stated: “The $80 million investment of Gateway Sydney has enabled a re-working of the important Jessie Street Gardens - named for the great feminist, international peace campaigner and campaigner for Aboriginal rights. I’m glad to see her remembered, and proud to officially launch this great new space.”
Exciting all the senses are signature dishes and crowd favourites from the likes of Neil Perry’s Burger Project, Four Frogs Creperie, Adriano Zumbo (above), Hurricane’s Grill and Gelato Messina to name a few.
Gateway’s owner DEXUS Wholesale Property Fund has invested $80 million into the future of Circular Quay achieving a great result for all stakeholders. Recognising the historical significance of the Jessie Street Gardens, DEXUS redeveloped the space in partnership with the City of Sydney. With an impressive façade on Alfred Street, the added transformation of Jessie Street Gardens has seen Gateway Sydney become an integral part of the Sydney CBD. Connecting 31,000 workers from surrounding offices, it provides a vibrant dining destination that both locals and Sydney’s 9.2 million annual visitors can enjoy. DEXUS CEO, Darren Steinberg said “We’re delighted with the vibrancy that Gateway Sydney has brought to one of Sydney’s most significant precincts. The precinct showcases an exceptional range of Australian food and beverage offers in one collective location, providing a fitting gateway to Sydney Harbour and the CBD.”
With a focus on breakfast, lunch and dinner, trading seven days a week, diners are spoilt for choice with over 25 new eateries available across three spectacular levels. Among the offerings are some of Sydney’s most talented culinary experts who are now at home in Gateway Sydney.
Creating an iconic precinct in one of Australia’s most visited destinations, DEXUS Property Group has worked with architects Woods Bagot in collaboration with MT Retail Design Concepts to design a unique space that encourages diners to explore a fusion of new tastes whilst creating memorable dining experiences.
Natural light spills through from the rooftop, making this a delightful place by day or night.
Recognised for its unique design, diverse offering and contribution to tourism and the local area, Gateway Sydney has successfully captured ‘The Art of Eating’ and truly redefined the Circular Quay dining scene for locals and visitors alike.
The mix of restaurants, cafes and bars means that all dining needs can be met, and the mix of ethnic menus spans, Japanese, Italian, Mexican and more.
