Tiny treasures from Japan |
Small, and oh, so perfectly formed! Takanori Aiba is a Japanese wizard of miniature artistry with a specialty in making bonsai treehouses and tiny tourist resorts from a parallel universe. He does this by cultivating a modern bonsai style then adds a theme of relationship between human life and nature, with a Japanese classical bonsai-style result. Read about his awards here.... Takanori Aiba was born in 1953 in Yokohama, Japan. Originally a freelance maze illustrator, his maze works were serialized for ten years in POPYE, a Japanese fashion magazine. He then founded his own company and became a concept maker and art director for architectural spaces. He was responsible for the total production of Shin Yokohama Chinese Noodle Museum, Muse Du Petit Prince De Saint Exupery A Hakone, and NINJA AKASAKA was one of his major works. Since, 2003, he has put his mind to work creating three dimensional art works which combine his knowledge and experience of both maze illustrator and architect. On September, 2010, He had a solo exhibition, Adventures of the Eyes at Kakiden Gallery in Tokyo.
If you explore any small part of Aiba's works, you find amazing stories and some unique characters. These works are not just imaginary compositions. Aiba's colleague, Murakami, who makes the models, is also a civil engineer. He is a realist sharing dreams with Aiba. READ MORE ......... and also here.... |
