Check-in by robots |
You may need to be pre-warned before checking in at this hotel east of Tokyo. One clue is that the name of the hotel chain is Henn Na, which means "weird" in Japanese. So, you are reaching for your credit card and realise that there's a dinosaur smiling charmingly behind the counter!
Welcome to this quirky chain's take on helping you settle in. These robo-dinos process check-ins through a tablet system that also allows customers to choose which language—Japanese, English, Chinese or Korean—they want to use to communicate with the multilingual robots.
Even the fish in a tank in the foyer are robotic with electric lights on their battery-powered bodies.
In the Ginza branch of Henn na, the robots assume not only front-desk roles but also cost-saving background duties such as cleaning.
