Hogs Back Brewery

Along the ancient roadway and trading route between Guildford and Farnham is the Hogs Back, known to many as the A31, but known to far more for the Hogs Back Brewery. Nestling on the north bank near the Hogs Back Hotel landmark is this little oasis of a gem.

Hogs Back Brewery and fine premium beers go hand in hand ...and they're all the result of the "Master Brewster" - the skilled Lady Head Brewer " Mo" , who brews some of the finest beers in the world. The brewery buildings date back to 1768. These fine old stone and flint classic buildings form an idyllic backdrop to this unique Independent Brewery and was the inspirations of the Founders Martin and Tony back in 1992 when the brewery doors were first opened. Fine ales had returned to the Guildford area after many decades had passed when the Friary-Meux Brewery in Guildford stopped brewing.

Only the finest malted barley and fresh whole English hops. locally grown at the Hampton Estate in Puttenham, are selected to brew the Hogs Back portfolio of fine ales, beer names like "TEA" and "HOP" or "Santa's Wobble"  suddenly take on a whole new meaning and could well re-write the English dictionary .

Fully guided tours of the brewery give you a rare insight into how these beers are brewed, but it's not all about facts and figures. This proves to be a really amazing sociable experience to enjoy and then talk about later around your dinner parties.

Hogs Back know something or two about the old traditional values of brewing good beer: no additives, colouring, flavouring, preservatives, or e-codes ever come near the brew vessels, so you know you're getting an honest wholesome pint.

Christmas at the brewery is like Santa's Grotto coming south from the North Pole, adults  go wide-eyed and speechless at seeing the range of speciality seasonal winter warmer ales, gifts and goodies as the first day of Christmas draws near. The brewery even brings out the famous Hogs Back "Beer Engine", a massive motorcycle and sidecar, on duty to collect Santa Claus.

A day out in the picturesque areas around the Hogs Back is a day packed with enjoyment, this outstanding beauty will please the ramblers, walkers and cyclists .....plus it's a friendly place to eat and of course home of the GREAT PINT OF TEA!
