dp_main As the rest of the world rushes to discover the best things about New Zealand, Princess Cruises is wooing passengers with kiwi cuisine during its biggest ever season of cruises heading from Australia on round trips across the Tasman.

Passengers cruising to the Land of the Long White Cloud on board the Australian-based liners Sun Princess or Dawn Princess will dine on New Zealand favourites.

Dishes added to the menu include bacon and egg pie, mussel soup and a special Princess Hangi Dinner featuring lamb chops, chicken thighs, smoked pork, cabbage and kumara.

The drinks list also reflects local standouts, for example, Steinlager beer, Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc and Kiwi martinis and daiquiris.

It's all part of Princess Cruises' cultural program which includes award-winning movies such as the Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Piano.

Experts on various destinations will also give lectures, including a park ranger who will give an educational commentary as the ship glides through the breathtaking, Fiordland National Park. Maori cultural groups will also present workshops on their culture and heritage and give performances at selected destinations.

During the five months from October, Princess Cruises will undertake 22 cruises to New Zealand, including four by the local Princesses' sister ship, Diamond Princess, who will sail between Sydney and Auckland this summer.
