APT has become the only European river cruise line to be inducted into La Chaine des Rotisseurs, one of the world's most prestigious culinary organisations, APT announced today. Society membership is considered an achievement of world-class culinary acumen, said APT's General Manager Marketing, Debra Fox. It means all 10 APT-AmaWaterways co-owned Europe riverships on the water this year are members of the Chaine des Rotisseurs.

Ms Fox said membership was a significant recognition of the culinary standards offered on APT's river cruises. APT fleet's Executive Chef, Primus Perchtold, directs the menus on every cruise. He has won multiple awards, including three gold medals at the European Championship of Culinary Art.

"This really lifts the image of river cruise dining, and we're proud to maintain our leadership role in developing the standards for this type of holiday," she said.

Chartered in the 13th century, the La Chaine des Rotisseurs society thrived for hundreds of years until the French Revolution brought an end to the guild system. Reborn in Paris in 1950, today membership is by invitation only. The society has grown to include professional chefs, restaurateurs and hoteliers around the world, said Ms Fox.

While there is a choice of eight dining options across Aria and Concerto ships and the opportunity to indulge in champagne breakfasts, a client favourite is the onboard hot bread bakeries, where passengers enjoy the freshest of breads during the day ... and night.

Ms Fox said APT had progressively elevated its standards of cruise cuisine over its 12 years on the rivers to achieve this level of recognition. "Our aim always has been to meet and exceed our customers' expectations," she said. "We're doing that with boutique-sized ships, the style and spaciousness of our suites and generous public areas, our off-ship choice of included local tours and restaurants which means customers can tailor their experiences and with on-board food and beverage services. We've made river cruising a tailored luxury-styled experience."
