As any keen skier or snow-sports person knows, it is a hungry past-time. So it is good news that Jasper is for Foodies.....and people who luuuvv their cocktails. The food culture in town is eclectic and unique. From Canadian classics, locally brewed beers, wild game and globally inspired restos - there's something to tickle your palate. You can almost hear the local food-lovers' minds working: So how about adding a food tour? They keep it small, tool - a maximum of 12 people. Oh, and while you are at it, a history (food-related) walk. This guided walking tour is three hours, where you will be visiting four joints unique to Jasper. At each you'll eat a carefully handpicked dish just for you, and drink a perfectly paired beverage. In between each venues - some of Jasper's tastiest tattles. Will you be full? Yes, they assure us. And happier.
There is also a Downtown Foodie Tour. On this short 1.5 KM downtown guided walk, you'll be visiting four restos and tasting four carefully handpicked dishes paired with boozie treats and listening to Jasper's top tales along the way. What's on the menu? Not telling. It's all part of the adventure. Price is all inclusive and includes fair pay for participating restaurants and tips for the staff. Follow these up with Le Poutine Tour celebrating that classic Québécois dish of French fries topped with cheese curds and gravy (see pic at top) which originated in the 50's in central Québec City. So why is Canadians' guilty pleasure celebrated here? With a dense population of Québécois in Jasper - restos are competing for the best poutine, and not all poutines are made equal. |
