In Victoria's Dandenong Ranges, what was once an old open-air artists' studio is an easy one-hour trip from Melbourne, has now been lovingly transformed by hand into the straw-bale yurt named Alkira. This luxurious escape in Emerald, comes with everything you need including linen and towels, breakfast included, indoor heating, outdoor fire pit, porch kitchenette, external toilet and shower, and games, radio, books and magazines.
If the yurt is already take, don't despair. A white-and-orange retro caravan called Frankie is also available.
The 40-acre property includes a fern-lined creek, native bushland, local birds and wildlife, horses, cows, calves and alpacas, as well as sweeping views. More details: Alkira Glamping Resort
