The leprechaun whisperer |
Know locally as ‘McCoillte’ Kevin Woods is Ireland’s last Leprechaun Whisperer.
In 1989 a leprechaun suit, bones, and gold coins were found on Carlingford mountain in Co Louth, Ireland. No one was more sceptical than the Whisperer and he organised a leprechaun hunt that year to try and catch one but none were found. In 2002 he found the gold coins in a stone wall on Ghan Road which enabled him to communicate with “Carraig” the elder of the 236 surviving leprechauns.
Millions of years ago the Leprechauns first encountered Fairies in the land of the Norse at a place called Arendal.
On their return journey to Ireland they met others below Fécamp in Normandy who gifted the Leprechauns with a flower petal which was to keep them safe if they kept it in their pockets. Queen Sadhbh lives below a fairy tree growing on Mountain Park Carlingford close to the area where the leprechauns are protected. It was this queen who first explained to the leprechauns why they were dying and advised them to seek protection.
By 2009 they were afforded protected by the EU under the European Habitats Directive. In 2010 he published his first book “The Last Leprechauns of Ireland” based on their lives.
