Walking in France |
Walk in the Haut Quercy region of south-west France this European autumn, departing 8th and 13th September 2012. This walk offers an opportunity to see some of the most beautiful landscape of France in one of the great gastronomic areas. The accommodation is simple but comfortable and in outstanding settings. Clients stay in the famous cliff hanging village of St Cirq Lapopie, known as being one of the prettiest in France. The landscape is stunning too and includes two beautiful river valleys and a day's walking in the Quercy Blanc. The Célé river valley is one of the highlights with the Four Bridges walk. This is a tiny valley of exquisite beauty and little visited by the normal trend as it is not easily accessible. Donkeys are normally available on the three longer walking days which allows clients to have two guides so those wanting to do more walking can climb hills with one guide whilst the others remain on the flat with the other. All meet up again forty minutes later. The area has been called the gastronomic heart of France by the great British chef Elizabeth David and the tour will finish the eight days with two nights with one of the best chefs of the region. In October there are three opportunities to enjoy eight days of gastronomy, wine and easy walking in the Dordogne. This is not a cooking course. It is just an opportunity for you to have fun in the week cooking with three or four different French chefs and with local English-speaking hosts and guides. There is much hands on
cooking to do with the freshest of vegetables and farmyard meats and all taking place in the gastronomic heart of France and lots of recipes to bring home with you. You will touch on haute cuisine and nouvelle cuisine and learn how to work with simple base food like créme brulée and mousse and turn them into totally different and exotic dishes by the simplest of ways.
