In a recent facebook post, French Desire, a website run by Francophiles Sharon and David, who are also tour leaders and property developers, told followers about a ?medieval chateau for sale for 20 million euro but there are plenty of historic places you can stay during trips to France for a much more realistic price:

In the heart of the bastide town of Monpazier in the Dordogne, this beautiful 17/18th century stone house has three spacious bedrooms, a large living / dining room with underfloor heating, french doors and exposed timber/stone and open-plan fitted kitchen opening out onto back courtyard area.

The house is located in a very touristic area, less than 45 mins from Bergerac. The bastide of Monpazier is a National Heritage Site and claims to be the best preserved bastide in the Dordogne. Its Place des Corniéres, the location of the market is surrounded by marvellous 17th century houses and the streets of town are on a perfect grid. Price 276,500 euro.

If you are looking at the lower end of the market, the Limousin property is still for sale for 42,500 euros.
