In countries with large populations, huge cities and not much room for vegetation, the ideal solution is to let tall buildings become hosts to 'forests' What's more, these green and growing buildings can turn CO2 into oxygen every day, performing the same task as a tree plantation on the ground would. Soon to be complete, in 2018, Nanjing Towers, in China will be Asia’s first vertical forests. Designed by Italian architect Stefano Boeri, the towers which stand 656ft and 354ft respectively, will be planted with over 1000 trees and 2500 shrubs.
The taller tower will contain offices, a museum, a green architecture school and a rooftop club, while the smaller tower will house a rooftop pool and a 247-room Hyatt hotel. Balconies will afford visitors stunning views of the dizzying vertical forests that are intended to help regenerate local biodiversity. These are not the firstof these forestsdesigned by Stefano.
