Covent Garden London

Petal pink and slim enough to fit in your back pocket or a handbag, this was the intention when the author has created this delightful small book as a guide to London's Covent Garden.

As a person who knows the area and this market well, you can be sure that she has overlooked nothing. There are 36 entries which cover most areas of interest: culture and the arts, lovely spots to eat and drink, beautiful boutiques as wall as a place for tipples and nightcaps. And of course with a name like Covent Garden there is a spot too, that is a plant nursery.

Whether you want a Baker Boy cap, to down a pint in an authentic London pub, an old-fashioned shop crammed with children's toys, or a boulangerie and brasserie where you can relax with authentic French pastries or Artisan bread sandwiches, you will find it here.

Jane Paech is an author of two other books about Paris and winner of the Australian category for Food Literature at the Gourman World Cookbook Awards in 2012. The illustrator Cecelia Eales is a London-based illustrator who studied at Harrow School of Art and gained an MA in Art and Design at Kingston University.

They have combined their talents in this delightful small book, making it the ideal gift for someone travelling to London, or for you to take on your own travels.

Covent Garden London, by Jane Paech, published by Wish You Were Here Publishing, November 2017, paperback, rrp $A19.99.
