Winter in Colorado |
There's plenty of new and enhanced experiences to make a Colorado snowcation worth the wait. So, what's new on the snow scene this winter? Beaver Creek Resort will add 250 acres of lift-served, welcoming ski terrain for beginner and intermediate skiers, McCoy Park is the resort's newest family-friendly learning area, which will offer 17 trails of natural, groomable glades. Winter Park will offer guests sunset guided skiing and riding experiences, new this season.
Aspen Art Museum will be home to an Andy Warhol this season. Aspen Snowmass has announced the 21-22 Winter Season Lift Tickets will feature Paola Pivi's colourful polar bears (pictured below). Visitors can also spot Pivi's art installations across the resorts and in the Aspen Art Museum and get their hands on limited edition Aspen Snowmass merchandise with the bear designs. Copper Mountain is launching the Western Territory, an area on the resort's western-most side dedicated to inspiring beginner skiers and families to connect with Copper's heritage. It will include two adventure zones, two new trails and a connector trail that offer skill development and animation to help families who are learning the sport. Telluride will provide guests with 40 new acres of beginner and intermediate skiing, including the new Grouse Glades. Purgatory Resort has launched a new free season pass for children aged 12 and under. Power Kids is the only season pass in North America that grants free unlimited skiing and riding to children under 12 with no blackout days or purchase required. New this winter, United is making it easier for visitors to travel to Breckenridge and Fort Collins with year-round ground transport and baggage transfer connecting through it's Denver hub. Breckenridge - A two hour drive from Denver, previous mining camp turned civilised Victorian mountain town, Breckenridge has a historic main street of clapboard fronted stores, as well as an arts district, with over 200 boutique stores to explore and sleigh rides to really embrace the location’s Victorian charm.
And beyond the ski resorts:
Estes Park opened Cloud Ladder in summer 2021, the steepest and most vertical Via Ferrata route in the USA. The new route is part of The Alpine Jewel, an adventure destination located at the foot of Rocky Mountain National Park. Adding to Estes Park's thrill factor, visitors can experience a new Mustang Mountain Coaster year-round, which consists of 1,000 linear feet of cable pulled uphill followed by 2,000 linear feet of gravity-fuelled descent. Grand Junction Adventures now offers guided Winter Climbing in Colorado National Monument, and Loveland will offer Snowcat tours in Dry Gulch, a new guided backcountry experience. The entire snowcat can be booked for groups as well as individual seats.
