A Slice of Brooklyn Pizza Tour |
"Manhattan? FUHGETTABOUDIT!" That's the official slogan of A Slice of Brooklyn Bus Tours whose famous Brooklyn pizza tour celebrates its eighth anniversary covering pizza and Brooklyn from one end to the other. Started in 2005 by native Brooklynite Tony Muia, dubbed "Mister Brooklyn himself" by NBC's Today Show, the tour, now celebrating its eighth anniversary features Brooklyn's favorite food, neighborhoods, landmarks and famous movie locations.
Stops include Grimaldi's under the Brooklyn Bridge, where there's NO waiting in line for their award winning Neapolitan style pizza, well as L&B Spumoni Gardens in Gravesend for their legendary Sicilian style pizza. The tour also visits areas like Brooklyn Bridge Park, Bay Ridge, Coney Island as well as famous Brooklyn movie locations like Saturday Night Fever, Goodfellas, The French Connection, Annie Hall and more.?? Folks are treated to the actual movie clips, along with a comprehensive audio-visual program, on the bus's overhead monitors. Over 50,000 people have been introduced to the borough and it's pizza through Muia's pizza tour, the original tour of its kind. It's been featured on the Today Show, the Travel Channel and the Food Network and has been consistently voted the #1 tour of Brooklyn on Tripadvisor.
"I wanted to create an easy way for visitors to hop on a bus in Manhattan and experience Brooklyn and it's amazing pizza from a native's perspective" says Muia. "When I started doing tours eight years ago, nobody was bothering to pick people up in Manhattan and bring them to Brooklyn. So I took it upon myself to go get them and become Brooklyn's official ambassador." "It's been an amazing eight years of showing people who've never been to Brooklyn before how easy it is to get here, how unique all the neighborhoods are, how many classic movies were filmed here and how much history and great pizza sits just across the river from Manhattan." Adds Muia, "What's really great is hearing them say 'Manhattan? FUHGETTABOUDIT!' at the end of each tour." |
