Eat yourself beautiful

First reaction when seeing this title would be – for many of us – something like 'if only it was that easy!'.

Of course the basis of this book is about health, and the beauty which comes from having your body in synch with your daily life and work. The author, award-winning blogger Lee Holmes, has good reason to want to keep her life in balance. Several years ago she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and this was a major incentive for her to begin to research and study what could be one of the causes of this painful condition and also to see what she could do to help herself heal.

As she learned, she adapted and adopted recipes which would counter the inflammatory progress of her disease, ultimately creating this collection of over a hundred recipes for 'inner and outer health and beauty', as she describes it.

This is not a wowser's cookbook. Recipes include hazelnut crusted wild salmon, one of the seven foods for longevity, a zesty sardine pate, a zip to whip up, a healthy carrot cake and, to prove you won't be at all deprived – chocolate truffles!

Nor will you need to devote special cupboards and hours of time to cooking them for yourself or a family member who may need special dishes. The ingredient lists are generally sort, as is the prep time. Obviously Lee Holmes is a busy person and recognises that food sensitivities hit all levels of people.

Talking of that, each recipe is clearly marked with icons to denote whether a dish is wheat-free, dairy-gree, gluten-free, sugar-free or vegetarian. These flavoursome meals are designed to jump-start your immune system, boost energy levels and maintain long-term beauty, health and wellbeing.
