| A fork in the lake |

Most of us are familiar with a fork in the road, but in Lake Geneva, at Vevey, there is a massive eight-metre fork! It was never meant to be a permanent addition to the lake's foreshore when the Nestlé company erected it in 1995 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of theAlimentarium – Musée de l’Alimentation, Vevey’s Food Museum across the Quai Perdonnet off of Vevey’s charming old town. A Swiss artist created it as a temporary exhibit, and it resulted in years of controversy. After two years it was removed, then re-erected ten years later, and now is here to stay as the town's symbol. |
