New York is a place that people like to visit year round, but perhaps there is no better time than Christmas. That’s when the Big Apple really comes alive. Even if you can’t travel there for Christmas, now there is a book which recreates the food that the locals will be eating. If you are lucky enough to be there, of course the restaurants and cafes are full of delicious food. New York cheesecake is a must , as is pumpkin pie made with warming spices and maple syrup – perfect for the chilly weather. There are 50 recipes in this book that range from eggnog and glazed pork roast through to blueberry brownies. But there is much more. Why not try a celebratory drink of cranbury gin fizz and sidecar? And of course a Manhattan is a must too. Cinnamon-flavoured caramel popcorn will really get you in the mood as well. And if you want something just a little healthier, sweet potato crisps are the ideal accompaniment to a beer. There are three Christmas themed stories in this book which allows the readers to taste the essence of what makes New York so unique. The authors have links to New York and a long history of food baking, styling and photography. This is the book that should be on the coffee table at Christmas for all to see. Maybe your guests will want to try to cook some of the dishes for you!
