Fancy a Tudor cookery weekend? Where better to enjoy it than Haddon Hall is a medieval and Tudor manor house in the heart of the Peak District, overlooking the River Wye? On April 21 and 22, 2012, cooking enthusiasts are invited to step back in time and experience cooking, Tudor style, in one of England's oldest and most romantic houses. Many period dramas have been filmed at Haddon Hall, including Jane Eyre and visitors to the cookery weekend are encouraged to stay at The Peacock at Rowsley - where many of the film's stars have stayed. Just five minutes from Haddon Hall, The Peacock was formerly the dower house to Haddon Hall and has been host to stars such as Dame Judy Dench, Kiera Knightly and Mia Wasikowska. It's one of Derbyshire's premier hotels and has a combination of stylish interior design, 16 luxurious en-suite bedrooms and a three AA Rosette restaurant. And this is all situated in the beautiful surroundings of the famous Peak District National Park. Walkers and cyclists have many options with the Monsal and Tissington Trails nearby, as well as the Lathkil Dale and the hotel provides a hearty breakfast and packed lunches for guests wanting to explore on foot or bicycle. Guests also have the opportunity to fish either of the neighbouring Rives Wye or Derwent, both famous for their stock of wild brown and rainbow trout.
