New Zealand's largest and tastiest culinary festival, Visa Wellington On a Plate, is set to serve good times and great deals from August 10-26, 2012. Get your knives and forks out for a feast of experiences to please every palate and budget. The 17-day culinary festival, starts August 10 with the Wellington Fisher & Paykel MasterClasskicking off the first weekend by showcasing a fantastic mix of talent to suit a range of abilities and tastes. The festival centrepiece is DINE Wellington, a fortnight where over 100 of the region's finest eateries offer lunchtime set menus and delectable dinner deals. This year will also see the return of the popular 'battle of the Burger', Burger Wellington, and a bevy of 111 events including Beervana, the New Zealand Chocolate Festival and Wellington Fisher & Paykel MasterClass.
Young adults can get their hands deep in curds with DIY Cheese for Curious Teens, while kids will have an eggcellent time at The Great Lunch Scramble with the Egg Guy. Youthful outdoor enthusiasts will love learning how to build and cook on a campfire at Staglands Campfire Cooking. There's lots to do. For those looking for a picnic with a twist, there's the Wai-ella Pop-up Picnic in the Park, but if seafood is your weakness, you can help Cobar restaurant Ferry the Oysters to the Bay, or indulge in a Seafood Banquet at Shed 5. On the second weekend of the festival, craft beer fans will be hopping to the capital for Beervana, while the final weekend is best for those with a sweet tooth, with the popular New Zealand Chocolate Festival hitting town. |
