Wine and dine in Tahiti |
(Photo: Lilikoi Moorea Food Tours) Home to a vast range of beauty, authenticity, culture, tropical fruits and local delicacies, The Islands of Tahiti are the perfect setting for a relaxed yet educational tour of the local surroundings, and for all the foodies out there, what better way to see a destination than on a food tour! (Photo: Vin de Tahiti) The Islands of Tahiti are very well known for the beautiful landscape, crystal clear water, and the endless possibilities for an incredible holiday. But what many may not know is that the stunning Rangiroa atoll is home to a spectacular vineyard that produces Carignan and Muscat grapes. This January the grapes have once again reached peak ripeness at Vin de Tahiti – the most remote vineyard in the world – for the 50th time in just 20 years. Most winegrowing regions around the world have winter dormancy, spring growth and harvest in fall. However in the small town of Avatoru, home of Vin de Tahiti, the 28°C heat and endless summer provides two and sometimes three harvests per year.

(Photo: Lilikoi Moorea Food Tours) Laurence Anzai founder of Lilikoi, has run the cafe and deli for a number of years. A short walk from the main hotels on Mo’orea, they are in a great location for locals and visitors alike, and now she wants to help guests explore the island of Mo’orea even further by taking them on a tour of the island’s flavours. Laurence guides guests around Moorea looking for the best local food and producers, teaches a cooking class on the beach and then guests finish with lunch. Growing up in the High Alp and Tarn regions of France, Laurence was influenced by her grandmother’s cooking. Bringing her skills and passion for flavours to The Islands of Tahiti, Lilikoi offers guests a stunning food experience using local food with a French twist. Guests discover local fish, local honey, a fruit and vegetable plantation, a shrimp farm and pineapple plantation, as well as a rum and juice factory. They then go on to cook three dishes - a local poisson cru in coconut milk, a shrimp dish with veggies and a dessert with pineapple. Laurence also provides vegetarian options. |
