NightFest in Canberra |
Commonwealth Park will come alive after dark when Floriade NightFest returns for five spectacular nights from Wednesday 25 September until Sunday 29 September. The ticketed twilight event returns in 2013 for the sixth consecutive year, featuring stellar light shows, live music, comedy and DJs. Whether you would prefer to spend your evening wandering through the night markets or chilling out with a cocktail while listening to some smooth tunes, this moonlit extravaganza has something for you. The Electric Theatre: A multi-platform performance space guaranteed to leave guests in awe. Floriade NightFest's newest destination will wow audiences with thrilling circus acts, stunning light shows and an awesome array of live music. The Cirquaholics will return to Floriade for the third year in a row with their Circus Glow Show in The Electric Theatre. The astounding performance featuring acrobatics, glow balls and hoops always proves to be a crowd favourite. Canberra-based company Poncho Circus will combine high level skills with theatre, live music, humour and other art forms to create a completely unique show. This young, up-and-coming circus troupe promises an entertaining, family-friendly performance. Drumassault and The Fireflies are bound to amaze with their infectious West-African drumming, rhythms and fire presentations. Local acoustic performances will also be interspersed throughout the circus acts. The Moonlight Lounge: Be entertained by world-renowned comedians and a great line up of DJs. Floriade's enchanting evening destination will feature top entertainment such as Melbourne-based stand-up comedian Felicity Ward – best known for her work in Channel 10's The Ronnie Johns Half Hour and ABC's Spicks and Specks – and Matt Okine, who was recently named Best Newcomer at The Melbourne International Comedy Festival. New Zealand TV and radio star Cal Wilson, Aussie writer and comedian Justin Hamilton and well-known funny man Tommy Dean will also get crowds giggling at The Moonlight Lounge. After a good belly laugh, visitors can sit back with a drink and be entertained by smooth tunes. Roving entertainment: At Floriade NightFest the entertainment comes to you. The Cloudmen are a serene act inspired by the popular Belgian surrealist artist, Rene Magritte, which will leave visitors in awe. These vibrant works of art will peacefully promenade through Commonwealth Park, doffing their hats in a pleasant greeting and stopping for photographs. As seen at Vivid Sydney, The Space Ballerinas will tower over you as they twirl around the park in their pretty tutus. The Toy Box Jesters will also enjoy the view from up high as their vibrant costumes, complete with flashing strobe lighting, stun guests. The Inspiration Hub: Where Beautiful Innovation comes to life on stage. Ever wanted to brush shoulders with the stylish fashionistas at Fashion Week? Then Floriade NightFest's Inspiration Hub may be the next best thing. Every night The Canberra Centre will hit the stage with a glamorous runway show incorporating innovative technologies, live music and cutting-edge fashions. |
